    1. WINERY TOUR

In case you don’t know, Mendoza is the wine heart of Argentina; not in vain it is considered the “Capital of Wine”. So, it’s impossible to travel to this province and not visit a winery. It’s very normal that everyone wants to know about it!

The experience is extreme, not only for wine fans but also for the boys who, during the tour, can know everything from the grape plantations to the production process of the exquisite drink: the barricades and the bottling. All of this with a wonderful background landscape! As is tradition, at the end of these tours the wine tasting is usually carried out. However, not only will you be able to taste it, but also buy it directly in the wineries that produce it at great prices!

The important thing to keep in mind for this tour is that, although the visit can be made at any time of the year, the vineyards cannot be toured during the winter. As for the activity itself, don’t worry: it’s even suitable for people with reduced mobility.

However, it should be considered that perhaps in the rooms of some wineries they cannot access them all. The recommended thing in this case is to  consult the travel specialists who can also offer you this type of excursions in one or more wineries in case you want to live lots of experiences.

The main areas where the wineries are located are Godoy Cruz, Guaymallén, Maipú and Luján de Cuyo. Also, although a little further away, there’s the famous Uco Valley. For a better reference you can look at our article about the 10 best wine cellars in Mendoza.

    2. VILLAVICENCIO NATURE RESERVE

150 km northwest of the city of Mendoza is located the Villavicencio Nature Reserve, very famous for its incredible mountain scenery and ravines from which crystal clear springs and hot springs sprout. If you live in Argentina you surely will recognize the name and the famous building for the bottled water that bears its name.

Among the most famous postcards of the reserve is Gran Hotel Villavicencio, which was open to the public until 1979, but to this day, you can only access the surroundings for walks among centuries-old trees and beautiful gardens.

Another of the beauties that can be seen on the visit to Villavicencio is the path of the 365 curves, which consists of a zigzag tour in the mountain passing through incredible viewpoints from which you get the most spectacular views of the highest peaks of Los Andes, including the Aconcagua.

The activity is suitable for people with reduced mobility and ideal to do during summer and spring. Yet, it can also be done in autumn! See what the weather is like in Mendoza.

    3. CACHEUTA THERMAL EXCURSION

Especially recommended for those who want to spend a few days of relaxation during their trip to Mendoza in the middle of an incredible landscape. Discover below why it’s one of the 5 must-see excursions in Mendoza!

Located 164 kilometers away from the city of Mendoza, the Baths of Cacheuta are a set of stone pools of different sizes, immersed in the fascinating pre-ranges environment. They have different temperatures with one thing in common: the benefits they bring to those who immerse themselves in them.

This place isn’t suitable for people with reduced mobility, as access to piletons can be a bit complicated and slippery. Although the Cacheuta Baths can be visited all year round, it is not advised to go during the winter; it can be counterproductive to health and isn’t enjoyed as much as the rest of the months of the year.

In addition to the thermal baths there are several hotel options, in case you decide to stay in the area, but you can also visit this place by taking a day trip from the city of Mendoza.

    4. ATUEL CANYON

One of the most beautiful activities in Mendoza is undoubtedly the Atuel Canyon. Located 232 kilometers from the city, between Valle Grande Reservoir and El Nihuil Reservoir, it’s a canyon from which flows the Atuel river, passing through rugged mountain landscapes and very particular rock formations.

In addition to the majestic landscape that gives us the canyon and reservoir, it’s also the ideal place for nautical activities and other adventure sports such as windsurfing, quad bike, kayaking, cycling, climbing, rafting on the Atuel River, zipline and rappelling.

This experience can be done all year round, but you should know that nautical activities are not available in winter. In that case, you have the option to combine it with other activities in San Rafael, from where you can also do diverse activities.

The visit to this place is suitable for people with reduced mobility. If you want more specific details about this tour, you can check it out in the adventure activities in Mendoza

You can also visit the Inca Bridge and a spectacular viewpoint of the famous Cerro Aconcagua. Generally, stops are made in the Potrerillo dam, one of the most complex engineering works carried out in the region, and in Uspallata, with more than 2000 meters of altitude above sea level. All this, while walking along the famous Route 7 connecting Argentina with Chile.

The tour ends after reaching the town of Las Cuevas, where it’s lunched and, if possible, ascends to the Cristo El Redentor de Los Andes, which is located on the border between Chile and Argentina. You can do this tour all year round and it’s even very interesting to see how the landscape changes over the months. Please note that it’s suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
