After being recognized as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, Las Cataratas de Iguazu became one of the favorite destinations of tourists in Argentina. But, while they are located in the province of Misiones, they share space with neighboring Brazil. To give you a more accurate reference, we prepared this quick guide to travel to Iguazu.
The tourism development of Iguazu, both on the Brazilian side (Foz) and on the Argentine side (Puerto Iguazu), has increased enormously if we talk about demand. There are many excursions to take, variety of places to stay, various ways to get there and requirements to enter, so knowing some data will help you greatly in planning your trip to this place.

WHERE TO STAY IN IGUAZU?
Just as you can get to Foz or Puerto Iguazu, you can also choose which city to stay in. Both sides have excellent hotel options and you will definitely find some accommodation that suits your interests and needs. In case you decide on Puerto Iguazu, you must choose between a hotel in the city or in the jungle.
Staying in the jungle is, from our point of view, a very interesting experience that complements the trip! The hotels in the area are perfectly integrated with nature –flora and fauna– without leaving aside all the comfort and coziness that we are all looking for. WHEN TO TRAVEL TO IGUAZU?
Iguazu is a destination that can be visited all year round. However, there are times when it’s more pleasant and this is because the weather can be very humid and temperatures very high.
In addition, there are some drier months like March and April while others are rainier like August and September, which of course can complicate your tour since all activities are outdoors.
The good thing is that continuous rainy periods are not frequent in Iguazu so, in the worst case, it might cause discomfort when making the tours (to the point that a visit has to be postponed until the next day). Check the weather in Puerto Iguazu .
WHAT TO VISIT IN IGUAZU?
Iguazu is synonymous of waterfalls. It’s impossible to travel to the province of Misiones and not visit this natural monument. In this case, the recommendation is to visit both sides of this wonderful place, the Argentinian and the Brazilian. Each has its charm and special activities to perform. Simply put, you’ll live two different experiences in one wonder.
For example, in the Argentine National Park you will be so close to the waterfalls –next to or below– that the visit is more participatory and, therefore, more fun! You will not leave the place dry! But, on the Brazilian side, the strong point is the view, the landscape. Being a little further away you can see the jumps in all their splendor.
But it does not end there. You will have the opportunity to do so many other activities beyond the waterfalls! Cultural-related with the visit to San Ignacio or connecting with nature on a visit to the Bird Park or even the horseback riding in the Iryapu Jungle… There are lots of options! If you want to travel a little further than the province of Misiones, we recommend Los Saltos del Moconá. These are spectacular waterfalls, very different from the ones of Iguazu. But for now, let’s look at other data we bring you in this handy guide to travel to Iguazu.
