    Activities for children in Tucumán

There are many activities for children in Tucumán, which means that traveling as a family to this province should not be inconvenient.

    15 de January, 2021

Planning a trip with children can create uncertainty since you don’t know which rides are suitable for the kids. Will there be enough attractions for them? Are they going to get bored during the trip? These two are the most common questions. That’s why we want to share the activities that are perfect for children in Tucumán. Most of them are located in and around the capital and can be combined with different options in the Calchaquíes Valleys.

TUCUMÁN MUSEUMS TO GO WITH CHILDREN

One place that will certainly leave children in a marvel is the Miguel Lillo Museum of Natural Sciences. This amazing place offers its visitors a multisensory and interactive journey in which they will get to know the flora and fauna of northwestern Argentina of our day and more than 200 million years ago.

This museum has several rooms. Among them is exhibited an extensive collection of insects, different species of acharides and large mammals with replicas in life size. Also, there is an area where you can appreciate the different biogeographic regions of this region and many others. It is one of the activities for children in Tucumán that cannot be missed.

Another option is the Institute of Archaeology and Museum, which houses three important collections: an archaeological, an ethnographic and a photographic one. It is appropriate to highlight two permanent samples that they offer as part of their educational work: Indigenous America (cultural diversity and ancient technology) and Between Hands, Claws and Hooves (people and their animals in the indigenous north). Both have guided tours and are open to all public.

On the other hand, you have the Museum of the Sugar Industry Bishop Colombres. An icon of the province worth touring, considering it was the first place where sugarcane was grown. Located in the 9th of July Park, it is very interesting and fun for children. Interactive technology is part of the activities and the guides illustrate the whole tour in a very fun way.

In the meantime, the Historical Independence House Museum goes back to the most important date in our country through samples, workshops, talks, sensory experiences and guided tours. It takes us to the Tucumán of the nineteenth century, the history of the Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata, the independence idea and struggles for the emancipation of American territories overall.

    CHILDREN’S THEATRE IN TUCUMÁN

For those who want to make a different cultural visit, we recommend the play Tina, the rumor of a nation. It’s a musical work created for the Bicentennial and is currently presented permanently at the former Banco Provincia de San Miguel, in the Bicentennial Hall.

Tina presents a show with a lot of technology. It has holographic actors who interact live with visitors, which makes it very eye-catching for children. At the same time, it tells the story of Argentina’s independence in a very pedagogical way.

The show is very visually appealing since there are almost 50 people on stage on a rotating plate, offering a show of 360 degrees. The central theme is the story of Tina and Bautista, who manage to travel back in time to the years of Argentine Independence.

Visit Tina and discover live why it’s one of the recommended activities for children in Tucumán!

TUCUMÁN FARMS AND GARDENS TO VISIT WITH CHILDREN

If it is flora and fauna, an interesting alternative for the boys is the Horco Molle Botanical Garden, located in the Municipality of Yerba Buena (very close to San Miguel de Tucumán). Here we will find guided tours, nursery workshops, bird watching, talks, courses and trainings specifically for children.

Leaving the capital towards south is the El Bracho Ecological Farm. Located in El Cevilar (Cruz Alta), it offers guided tours and small train rides around the farm. Additionally, it has a place where kids and teenagers can prepare (amass) bread, milk and make cow cheeses.

Continuing with the farms, we also have La Vidalita in Las Talitas. It is a magical place with a Creole museum and an organic orchard where you will also find countryside elements, a folkloric courtyard, variety of animal species, kneading of bread, stick play and cart ride.

There is also the farm Guided by the Pachamama with three different proposals: ecological, cultural and educational. Here you learn about the techniques of ancestral crops, aromatic and medicinal herbs, compost, farm animals, handicrafts, spirits and breads. It is located in La Quebradita, Tafí del Valle, where you can combine many other attractions.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TRAVELING WITH KIDS TO TUCUMÁN

You should know that some museums –especially that of the Historical House– usually receive many tourists, so you might encounter long lines to enter. Because of this, our recommendation is to visit these sites first thing in the day. Not for nothing there are tourists who leave long before opening time, by virtue of being the first and touring it without crowds.

In terms of documentation, Argentine and Mercosur residents have preferential rates and minors do not pay entry to many of these sites. However, don’t forget to always bring their respective identification document.

In some places, such as Musical Tina, you can book in advance. We highly recommend this so you don’t have to line up with the kids.

It is important to mention that in Moebius Viajes we give you the possibility to combine these places with other places in the province that are ideal to visit with children. Even so, our travel specialists help you put together your itinerary if you wish.

Quilmes Ruins is an alternative. We can coordinate a private tour for this destination with additional stops where schedules are fluid and relaxed for children. Take advantage and check our article on the 5 must-see tours in Tucumán.

Whatever the option of your choice, there are many activities for children in Tucumán. Do not hesitate to ask for the help of the experts and send a WhatsApp to receive immediate advice!
